About Us

Our Club was initially started by some New Brighton Club members who lived at the north end of the beach. Rather than swim at their surf club (a mile down the beach) they set up the North New Brighton Surf Club. This was later formally established as North Beach Surf Lifesaving Club in 1916. Please read about our Centennial celebrations over Labour Weekend in 2016.

For more than 100 years this club has patrolled our stretch of beach, not one life has been lost while a patrol has been on duty.

North Beach Surf Life Saving Club patrol the local beach from November through to March conducting patrols on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11am – 5pm, with regioal lifeguards also on duty daily over the summer school holiday period.
We have an active membership of junior (7-13 years) and senior members (14 years +) and offer safety and fitness training, competitive surf sports and camaraderie to all our members.
We welcome new members so if you have an interest in sport, life guarding or meeting new people, contact us!
